This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialised area of policing.The Forensic Collision Reconstruction Unit is a small team of Police officers and Staff within Forensic Services who provide 24 / 7 cover of the entire force area from their base in Atherton, Wigan*.
* Please note locations are under review and there may be a possibility of an additional FCRU office being located in Chadderton.
In the role of a Forensic Collision Investigator, you are a critical part of the investigation of serious/fatal collisions. You will be deployed to• Fatal road traffic collisions.• Collisions where injuries are life threatening• Any PVA / PIA that involves a fatality, serious injury or a serious breach of Driving Standards policy.The role requires extensive academic study and the successful candidate will be required to attend a variety of training courses often out of force and residential.A high level of maths is required for the role and therefore the individual should have a minimum of GCSE Maths (Grade C or above).The collisions attended by the unit often result in complex files being prepared for Criminal, Coronial and Civil courts where the Collision Investigator will be called upon to present their evidence as an expert witness.If you would like to apply for this role, please upload your CV detailing the below information only.
